How do you guys revise for exams or mocks?

Usually I write down as much as I can remember from a topic, then I look at my notes, understand them and rewrite them multiple times until I know the information off by heart. Then once I've learnt the content, I move on to past papers and questions.

This works for most of my subjects by learning information and case studies. However, I'm struggling with learning some of my psychology content and was wondering how other people revise?

Is there any use in just reading the textbook and hoping the information sticks in your brain?
