    Could someone please explain the answer to June 2014 question 4c - attached

    The solution is a=2 b=6 but I cannot work out why.

    a is essentially the gradient of the line, and you can use points P and Q respectively to calculate it,

    You could sub in the co-ordinates of Q to calculate b!
    It makes perfect sense now. Thanks.
