Gym Membership at reasonable price near HH + PT jobs

I was just wondering what gyms High Holborners use...

I know there is a GymBox and an LA Fitness in Holborn but I assume these are going to be fairly expensive even with student discount.

Do HHers use the LSE gym for cardio and weights, or the ULU gym near Euston (i think)...?

Also, looking at my budget I may have to supplement my income through a part-time job of some sort. Is it best to go for a normal retail part-time job at a store or work for the LSESU or ULU?

I know this is typical LSE-er talk, but oh well...Is it possible to get any part-time work that may boost my CV credentials or develop new skills that may be valuable to me when applying to Investment Banks in the future?

Fitness First is doing a special deal for students - 19.99 per month which seems pretty reasonable. Looks really nice in the pictures too.

19.99 --- thats cheap.... same price FF is charging here in M'sia, even aftr taking into account the 7x exchange rate

thats even (slightly) cheaper than the LSE gym (22.50). Is there a Fitness First near by though?

yes there's a high holborn branch of ff ... so next door to my accommodation

the student membership for £20 per month is off-peak only, hence the low price.
that LA Fitness place is at a hilton hotel, for 20 quid a month seems pretty good

Yes I thought so too when i got the flyer in the freshers pack envelope but I did some research into it and they only seem to have a few cardio machines, pool and sauna; no resistance or weights machines. Therefore, making it mostly useless to most of the male student population as well as a fair chunk of the female student population.

Ahh... low prices: there's always a catch
great - that sucks.

What times do they consider off-peak?
I thought the offer might be a bit too good to be true :frown:
Anyone know if there are any good gyms near Bankside? I don't really want to join the LSE one so am thinking that it'll be easier to go to one near my accomodation.

There is a gym called Cannons in Bloomsbury, Bloomsbury Fitness (run by UCL) and the ULU gym (which looks the best deal). But if you find something better, please put a link!

if you're at high holborn.. the done thing is to go to the Oasis centre... thats where I went all year... i think its around £20 a month for students... plus its literally next door.. completely ideal

the lse gym is much cheaper than £22.50... its £90 for the whole year.. but its quality is nowhere near that of oasis which is really good.. not amazing but more than good enough for me at least..

dont know about bankside though..
cheers, i'll look into it.
