Could someone please help me change this sentence so that it makes sense? I can't seem to make it sound okay??

Their interpretation of “ordinary pain” would be death and suffering, which they would have been surrounded by so often that they now consider common.

Having been for so long surrounded by death and suffering, they would consider these afflictions as no more than "ordinary pain".

Grim familiarity has inured them to death and suffering, which seem now only everyday hardships.

Their lives have become so awful that death and terrible suffering seem now only commonplace.

The situation is so desperate that the once dreadful has become now unremarkable.

Grim familiarity with the depths of TSR has inured them to death and suffering, which seem now only everyday hardships.

Their lives have become so awful that death and terrible suffering seem now only commonplace; even the solace of rep has lost its puissance.

    What about switching it around?

Death and suffering was so common for them that these events were considered to be 'ordinary pain'.
