Extreme pain in the hip
I have this stabbing pain in my hip every time I move it. So walking is extremely painful, climbing steps is agony, i can' even cross my legs when sitting without screaming.
This has been happening since about Thursday, and yes I am going to the Doctors today, as I'm sure that will be the most prolific diagnosis from you folk :P
Basically, I'm wondering if anyone has any sort of idea as to what it might be

Is the pain in the front or the side of the hip?

Get it check at the doctors. A friend of mine had that pain for six months or so, until he collapsed...ended up as a dislocated hip.

This may be silly but if you have a tennis ball roll your bum about on it. I have a pain in the side of my hip and I rubbed my groin and the pain in the out side of my hip went. 
If your doctor just gives you painkillers try to see a physio.
