I said and did some things I regret with my ex fiancé. I'm finding it difficult to get over. And was wondering whether this is Gods punishment for the things we did. Or whether it is His way of saving me from a life of sadness and misery as He knows best.

It's not punishment, your own heart was revealed, now you can either try to be nicer, or desire to see what God can do. When I met people that had receioved what he calls the "new heart" (His Spirit within) I realised I could not attain to the good spirituality they had, what was coming out of them was not in me, I needed to stop believing in me and call upon God.

Definitely, it's caused me to reevaluate myself and change for the better. If only he stayed to witness the change... a part of me feels like it's an excuse or a cop out though by saying it's Gods plan instead of facing what an awful person I was.
