    I know most stuff about the properties of lone pair of electrons however one thing always bugs me which i cannot seem to find a solution to. In a lone pair of electrons, both electrons are negatively charged, so how are they considered as a pair when in reality they should repel each other far away?

    They do repel which causes a greater bond angle!

    I think it's because they're in the same orbitals with opposite spins. Remember how each orbital holds a maximum of two electrons so that's why I think they're together and considered a pair. But not sure! Im only in yr 12 so may be completely wrong
