Our son plans to start Uni this year 2017.
My husband is planning on retiring this summer but will our income be means tested on what he earned last year ? How will that affect the maintenance loan/grant . I'm not sure I understand the difference. If he were to be made redundant between now and when our son starts Uni will this be taken into account ?

He ll need to fill in a change of circumstances form so it gets assessed on your current years income

Hi, Thanks for trying to help TRS support. However the customers application must first be assessed using the House Hold Income before we can consider a current year income assessment. As such, we still have to assess the application based on the required tax year. As not able to apply for 2017/2018 academic year at present, we can advise that when applying we would need the student to apply and have this assessed based on household income for tax year 2015/2016. Once this has been assessed we would require a Current Year Income from to be completed and returned to us to confirm the drop in income and enable us to reassess entitlement. Thanks
