Why do guys sabotage themselves on dates Watch

I've had two guys who recently backed out after suggesting an amazing date to then suggest a really cheap date.

Guy #1 suggested going on a road trip to the coast after which he blamed the weather and said let's netflix and chill instead.

Guy #2 suggested going for dinner after which he cancelled saying he had a cold and suggested going to the movies in the future.

Are these guys not interested? Why are they sabotaging themselves with such cheap dates? Or is there nothing wrong with their 'downgrade' suggestions?

What's wrong with just hanging out? I think it's a bit much for you to say that, when you will most likely not be paying

Guy 1 is f**kboy, avoid like the plague.

Guy 2 sounds like he's being genuine.

Might be testing you out. If you all of a sudden changed your mind because the second place they suggested is cheaper then that'd be a bit of a red flag to some guys.

The guys probably found an upgrade dating option and were out wining and dining her instead.

Both of the "amazing dates" sound very intense for 1st dates (yes, even the dinner) and I would not really want to go on either as a first date.

why so you feel entitled to a man's money? I can't get over this. you're saying "really cheap" as if that sabotaged it. this is why I feel like there's no point in dating women at all. no sex is worth this financial hoop-jumping. if a girl likes a guy, it shouldn't be for ****ing money.

Does it make a difference how expensive or cheap the date is? The point is to get to know each other, which you can just as easily do at the Ritz or on a park bench.
