    I messed up my first year of A-Levels and took an extra year to resit. So I'm finishing now in my third year. Will Universities be aware of this fact when I apply, and if so will it affect my chances of being accepted?

    Yes and it depends on the uni but if you improve by only one grade that won't look very good.

    You will have to declare that you resat your a levels.
