I am a 27 y/o mature 1st year U/G and struggling greatly with anxiety, and I don't know how to break out of this state of mind, I suppose I am also moderately depressed because of it.

I feel nauseated most of the time and don't look forward to doing things or spending time with others. Pretty much everything I do is effort, and as a mature student I am not sure if things can improve as nearly all of the students my age have commitments, and I don't feel confident being with the younger students

This sounds really difficult. Have you seen your GP about it at all, or uni support services? If not these would both be good things to think about. Taking that first step is ridiculously hard and it might take a couple of attempts to find someone good but once you do you won't regret it! They can make a huge difference. The other thing is are there any societies you might be interested in? There might even be one for mature students but depends on the uni I think. These can help meet like minded people and give you something to talk about, same if your subject has one as you can see what modules other people are doing, what sort of stuff they like etc. I can definitely understand a lack of confidence around people a lot younger than yourself, I'd imagine you have very different priorities to a lot of them too but you won't be the only one feeling like this. Go and see student support anyway and see what they can suggest
