How to avoid a cold?

Ah well, so far I don't think I've been the most sensible of people, as my bf was ill and complaining with a cold and whatever and me being me decided I didn't care and still would go along kissing him anyway... *tuts at self*

But anyway it turns out he's pretty sick, so I was wondering if there was anything I could do to try to not get as ill as he is, as I know there's pretty much no chance of me not getting it...

Currently I'm attacking the Vitamin C and Echinacea, but is there anything else I could do?

I do realise I was a little stupid, but damn my bf... he's too irresistible I just can't help it...

Drink lots of honey and lemon in hot water. Always does the trick.

Lie in bed, tell your Mother you're "too achey" to move, whether you're ill or not. Rub onions under your eyes, and lap up the pleasure of being waited on.

Or, lots of fresh fruit/ veg, and Vit C like you said.

Keep well fed.
Feed a cold, starve a fever, that's what the say.

I've heard ginger and lime is meant to be good, as well as lemon and honey.

Best you can do is eat your greens.

You've just reminded me that cold season is starting, uugh colds are soo horrid.

I am of the opinion that there is nothing you can do. I think we are destined to get colds at pre-determined points in our life. Like I had a really bad one and could hardly speak when results came out and I had to deal with admissions tutors on the phone...argh!

Sorry to be so pessimistic!

So true, my friend. So very, very true. I had a cold which turned into a lovely chesty cough, and coincided nicely with my exams starting. Fab.

Echinacea is a good thing.

Manuka honey can also be quite good for you.

don't think about it. most of it will be in the mind!

I agree with this.

You will definitely feel worse if you mope around feeling sorry for yourself because you have a cold. Just carry on with your normal daily life, drink lots of water and take paracetamol if you need them.
