    my IAL exam is tomorrow can someone pleasee expalain this question i dont understand it x

    suggest how treatment with antibiotics may not be effective against the dormant bacteria

    heres the markscheme
    1. idea that bacteria need to be accessible to antibiotics ;
    2. idea of bacteria inside macrophages ;
    3. reference to waxy layer of (these) bacteria ;
    4. idea that (bacteriostatic) antibiotics affect dividing bacteria;
    5. reference to antibiotic resistance (of these bacteria) ;

    First of all, look at the key words that you have in the question. The key word is dormant and dormant means that they are slowed down. An example to go off topic, is a volcano where if it is dormant its asleep meaning its not erupting. When we look at the first 4 points on the mark scheme, it is making reference to how the antibiotics should attack these specific types of bacteria.

    The last point is the average answer which you should be giving if you didn't put down the others
