I have a friend who is being charged for not paying her car insurance when she was not in ownership of the car, she only bought the car in December and yet she was supposedly meant to have been in court for it with the DVLA in May last year. She's rung loads of insurance helplines but all of them have been useless! Advice anyone/ know of anyone that could give good advice? They're charging her over £600 and want her to go to court but she didn't even own the car for the time they are charging her for

Why's she talking to insurance helplines? It's presumably the DVLA who are prosecuting her, which means she needs to talk to them and find out what their version of events is.

I think you've neglected to explain the detail of the issue here, because the DVLA don't go around charging people for not having car insurance :')
