As I go back to College tomorrow I was thinking about my School Days.

We used to have an assembly every Monday morning and we had to stand up and sing these songs.

The most memorable was the dreaded "The School Rules Song".

Does anyone remember having to Sing this?

It goes "This is an important matter, how we should behave at School. We will get along when we obey the rules" dum dum dum dum, dum dum dum dum."

Came across it on YouTube here:

I don't remember singing many songs as such, but because my primary school was a Catholic school we had to sing hymns every day during assemblies

We are the children of (Insert school name here.) (I remember being freaked out when I moved schools and they had that same song. Thought it was a song the school made.

School rules.

Some bullying/ religious song?? (Sometimes I wonder why people suffer... lalalalala)Shall look up the name later.

After this point forgot the names and what not so I went onto youtube to find out which ones I did and:

Wake Up

Living and learning

Together- Remember this one vaguely.

There was a few more. One which is really annoying me but can't remember anything about it. Something like about Barbados or bears. Idk some place in the hills.

We sang a lot of songs from Cats (the teacher who played piano in assemblies was a big fan, apparently). The words to Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat have been permanently etched into my brain.

We sang a lot of religious stuff at assembly which is annoying since I never believed it and to this day hate that stuff.

There were a few others though like the how many roads song. I actually have a hard time remembering things for just 10 years ago, it’s like my memory has tried to blank my first 11 years of life.

Possibly the first one I ever sung

Who's the king of the jungle (loud ape imitations, like "hoo-hoo" )
Who's the king of the seeeeeeeaaaa (loud bubble imitations)
Who's the king of the universe
and who's the king of me (i'll tell you,)

J-E-S-U-S, (yes!)
He's the king of me
He's the king of the universe, the jungle (loud ape imitations)
and
the
sea (bubblebubblebubble SPLASH)

Yes, the chapter and verse is part of the song

Matthew, 22, Verses 34-40
Matthew, 22, Verses 34-40

Love the lord your god
with all your heart with all your soul with all your mind...
with all your strength!
(repeat)

Love your neighbour
as yourself
and do to others as you'd have them do to you
(repeat)

(then have the left hand side of the hall singing the first part and the right hand side singing the second part)

Tbh they don't compare to the hymns at my current school. Abide with me, Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah, Jerusalem, I Vow To Thee My Country...

I am surprised this one has not been mentioned yet. It was the best thing about the Harvest festival church service.
