The reaction tells us that 1 mole of Carbon produces 2 moles of of Copper. Think of it more as the molar ratio (you will see what I mean.).
Using the equation, n=m/Mr
n(carbon) = 1500/12 = 125
n(copper) is therefore going to be 250 (as the molar ratio is 1:2)
