Basically, I had an assignment due today and my laptop froze yesterday so I lost the majority of my assignment, I now only have 2 pages worth and I've not handed in because I've failed either way

I'm just worried about what happens now, I don't think I will get a resubmission either 😣

Check auto-save and install Amazon Drive for next time (saved me more times than I could imagine!).

Yeah I've checked and there's nothing there, just going to have to live with it 😑

The university view on this is generally that it is tough. If you aren't backing your work up then as far as the uni is concerned this is entirely your problem. If nothing else you've learned a valubale lesson in backing up your work and keeping off site copies (for example cloud storage).

this ^^^, I would always keep my work in at least 2 locations (e.g. hard drive + cloud, USB + email) and resave at a minimum every hour (preferably every 30 mins) so I never lose too much work

you should have handed in what you had (and if possible stayed up all night to do a bit more) as scraping 45% or something (which is pretty easy to do) is still a bit better than failing and having to resit in summer + getting 40%

This is not the issue. Technology breaks. There's no way around that. Inevitably no matter how good your hardware is, at some point it will break and you'll lose something you're working on. Backing up to mitigate this is the answer, not trying to buy more reliable hardware (although that is a good idea too).
