Why would you go into a pub, of all places, and order hot water? :lolwut:

It's a blooming weird order for a pub

possibly they're a bit annoyed cos making a cup of hot water takes some effort but they probably can't charge you if it's just a tap water

I can think of two reasons why someone would order hot water: to make their own tea/coffee, or to heat a baby bottle. I would consider both strange behaviour in a pub, unless you were ordering food during the day with a group of people.

Probably thought you were taking the piss out of the lack of flavour in their tea.

Why add "without a teabag"? Just ask for hot water and discreetly add your teabag when no one is looking.

I shall the pub you went into a Wetherspoons? That would make it less weird instead of ordering tea from a pub pub
