Hi all. I need your advice!!! I'm in my first year of college and I am doing BTEC scienece. But I absolutely hate it with a passion!! I have had a passion for languages since I started secondary school and I was really good at it always getting A's but I also did sciecnce to please my parents because I knew that going into medicine is what they would like me to do. I really want to be an interpreter but I dont know how they would react to that as I have never told them. They never pushed me into medicine, but then again in a a way they did. They always told me to study something that will make you highly respected in the future and with a great pay, and unfortunately I chose to be a GP and they were so happy. Sorry for going on a bit but my question is is it too late for me to change to stuudy just languages now in A levels or should I just leave it?

It depends on your college, you could retake your AS year doing purely language based subjects if you're passionate for it and if your college allows it.

NEVER do subjects just because you think they'll 'please' your parents, please tell them your aspirations and I doubt they'd have any quarrel with it, it's better than wasting tons of money on a university degree you don't even want to do!

Doing a subject you enjoy can never be bested to be honest, especially if you've got a deep love for it, you won't even find the work tiresome most likely.

    Good luck!
