Will my attendance let me down? UCAS reference Watch

    • Thread Starter

So my attendance is horrific lol it's probably ~60% ngl, but my grades are actually really good, as in above 85%.

I'm just wondering if my referee will mention my bad attendance and if so will this hinder my chances of going to my desired University

I don't have the best attendance either and I've managed to get 3 offers so far, 1 from a russell group and 1 that's unconditional so it can't matter huge amounts. If you have good grades, a good personal statement and a good reference then you'll be fine. A referee can't actually say anything negative on a reference anyway, if something is lacking they simply won't mention it.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Normally reference writers are instructed not to write any negatives, at least in my school. So they won't exaggerate any positives, but they'll highlight them and should avoid anything like lack of attendance (:

The reference has to be positive but they can be clever with how they write them..
"Jackie could be a promising student with more attendance."

That tells the uni all they need to know.
