I am currently studying Fine Art and Art History at Manchester Metropolitan but I've decided I would like the option of starting a new course in September, specifically Social Anthropology at University of Manchester. I have not decided whether I 100% want to change just that I'd like to have the opportunity to do so... my question is whether this is possible without losing my place at mmu and if UoM will accept a transfer student from a completely different course? Also does this change my UCAS application in any way, I understand I'd need to re-do my personal statement and get a new reference.

I applied for Social Anthropology last year but did not get a place due to my grades and got a place at mmu through clearing. I got an A in Art, a B in Sociology and a D in Psychology so I was planning on re-sitting my Psychology A level this summer to get the right grades (I have spoken to my old sixth form and they said this was possible to do).

I will add that last year doing my A-levels I received extenuating circumstances and because of this I felt I did not achieve to the best of my ability, will UoM take this information on when considering my application?

Call Uom and ask if they ll consider your application, it's likely you d have to start from first year again which means you need to be quick to meet the deadline.

Hi I hope you don't mind me posting, I am starting fine art and art history in Sept at MMU and wondered if you could let me know what the timetable is like. What days are lectures currently and how much time is self study? Did you get time off in October last year? We are hoping for a family holiday in October but MMU are unable to confirm if there are any reading weeks etc outside of the normal Easter and Christmas breaks.

I hope you managed to change your course and wish you the best of luck, Amy x
