Fundamentally, no. Longevity and security is a far greater measure of a country's prowess, without which it doesn't matter what it achieved, because it can no longer do so. The country's sole aim is to provide security and opportunity to it's people. If it collapses that's - beyond argument - impossible.

If you can't understand that basic fact, the entire debate is utterly lost on you.

But instead, you live in your idealist bubble, away from the pressures and realities of the real world. In many ways, then, you're perfectly suited to the USSR.
I would have had way more opportunities if I lived in USSR, because my current capitalist country does not provide me with any, neither there is security. Once the oil goes down, everything goes down. It didn't collapse because it couldn't sustain with providing the people with proper living. It collapsed because it was attacked by another superpower, whose interests conflicted with the other. I'm basing my arguments on the fact that my living standards were much higher in USSR than in Russia, that's all that matters. I had the opportunity to sleep in peace without worrying to pay overwhelming bills or trying to find 20 jobs to repay my student loans.

I have tried getting a job. 100+ applications = 1 Group Interview for me....

I tried so hard in that group interview. First to answer questions. First to talk about myself. Showed leadership on the task. Still rejected!

With a country like this i'm joining the communist movement as I just want work not dole!
This is what the various communist movements around the world depend on. Have you actually read The Communist Manifesto, though? There's more to it than equal distribution of wealth.

You're living in a dream world. You've got rose tinted glasses on that prevent you from actually looking at it objectively.

Or, put another way, you've got no idea what you're actually talking about.

The flaws of the USSR - and there were many, hence the collapse - were the flaws of man. They can never be overcome. It's why that system is always doomed to failure.

I'm not living in a dream world. It's just that you never lived in a properly socialist country. If you consider what I said to be a dream, then why are you complaining about USSR? That's what we had.

I can see no reason why a genuinely rich country with a massive economy would fail beceause of man. It reached the top because of man, now it's suddenly falling down?

If you were in the ruling clique in the 60s, maybe. If you were an average citizen? No.

No reason? Well, ask them. It did collapse. Spectacularly. Clearly a strong Russian bear

the "ruling clique" earned as much as they deserved, not millions or billions, they weren't rich. That's the point of communism. My grandparents lived during USSR, both were the most typical average citizens. I have something to reffer to, you don't. If I have doubts, I go and ask them, to get second hand experience rather than fetching the infested internet for some american views on USSR. It did collapse, work of man? No. It doesn't make any logical sense.

So you're saying that man had nothing to do with its collapse? It was just a totally random, spontaneous event?

      You're moronically and pathetically deluded.

It makes perfect sense; it was an entirely useless and imperfect system that simply didn't work in reality and could not sustain itself.

Huh? Yeah it's a man, one man. Gorbachov, not the whole country. 72% didn't want the collapse.
