This sounds like the most stupidest thing ever but my relationship with my parents is really frustating me and I guess this is a decent way of venting my feelings out.

    Background stuff:

    • Got along with my parents when I was younger very well
    • As I grew up I became less religious
    • Once my Dad punched me in the face and I just took it.
    • The second time he punched me again I punched him so hard I dazed him quite badly
    • Felt that I was to blame and that shouldn't hit him
    • Mum felt I should have just let him hit me
    • ever since then I have been very distant and they complain a lot thatI'm distant
    • They are very controllative ex they need to know what I'm doing at all times even if I'm at home

    (Male here for the record)

Ever since I was a child I have had soft , straight light brown hair which at the time was fairly short.

Due to puberty this has changed and since the age of 12 (16 now) I now have hair that gets quite wavy when say above a 3. Due to this my parents used to give me really short haircuts just because they don't like my hair being wavy. They did however say when I turn 16 that I can style my own hair.

So when I finally had the right to control my own hairstyle I decided to grow my hair out. to what length you may ask? Well atm I only have 2inches of hair on top and and inch on the sides.

Since then my parents having been freaking out saying "you look scruffy and so disgusting you need to look smart" yada yada yada ever since I decided to grow my hair out. It's really getting to me because I know my hair look s fine but it just makes me doubt myself.

They are trying to get to go to a specialised but its getting to the point where if they keep running their mouths I may do something that I really want to do

Its so irritating because I have mocks and they keep on pestering me and my focus is slipping a little.

Anyway, all I want to do is get my alevels and get to uni and graduate and then never see them again because they really have made my life hell metally .

I know this is a huge rant but till I'm going off to uni (year and a half or so) what should I do to survive till then? What is my next move? I know they won't give up on this and just can't accept me as me.

Thanks you so much for reading this huge rant but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your parents are bullies. It sounds like the scope to have a good relationship with them is limited and that's not your fault.

    Thanks for replying

They always say that its my fault we are like this and I don't try to let them in so its really reassuring to hear someone thinks otherwise

The most depressing thing is that just I really want to escape from them but I know I can't till after uni

Definitely use the university counselling service when you get there. Dealing with the mental health aspects of bully parents can be helpful.

    Hang on in there <3
