If they're shorter than 5ft 10, yes.
If I see another size 14 girl, I don't look at her and think "gosh she's fat". In fact, my friend is a size 16 on her bottom half, and I've never considered her fat, although I have for other size 16s so maybe it depends how they dress and things?

Noo. Not unless they have the tiniest bone structure in the world but have a ton of fat to make up for it. 14 could be a bit cuddly, for example if I was a 14 I would be rather cuddly, but I know girls who are tall with a solid bone structure who are size 16, and I wouldn't call them fat.

RosiePosie - So it only looks more so if she was size 14 overall but not as much if she was only in her lower half?

If you pass a girl in the street, do you honestly know what size she is by looking at her? Size 14 (as with other sizes) can cover a whole variety of shapes and you can't generalise like that.

That's true acaila , but the size was just to give a general idea for people to relate to when coming to a certain body image and size.
I don't think there's a definite answer to that question. Each person stores fat in different places according to our genetics. If you add that to the fact that some people are short and some tall and some are in between, it's like asking how long is a piece of string...

If you're short, you generally carry weight badly. When you're tall, it tends to spread and has further to go, therefore you can have one tall person who's a size 14 and a tiny person who's a 14 and they're both look incomparibly different.
If they're shorter than 5'6", yes, most likely.

I don't quite understand, I'm afraid.. :frown:

What I was trying to say is that I don't think size 14 necessarily looks 'fat', and that even bigger sizes (ie size 16 like my friend) don't necessarily look fat either. Basically it depends on more things, like bone structure, the way they dress, their height, etc. Hope that's a bit clearer

Nah, size 14 is normal i'd say
I have no idea what the sizes mean in real terms. Pics?

Yes. There has to be a line somewhere when people become fat, and as much as people who are on the 'wrong' side don't like it, it probably is around 12-14. It's crazy to pretend otherwise. Deluded language and flattering words won't change your physical proportions of fat; neither will the ideas of an 'average' size in a country where obesity is epidemic. Let's face it, you don't get many models or celebrities at that size and for good reason.

Because most models and celebrities are vapid self-obsessed fools?

As for the topic I don't even know what the dimensions of size 14 are. The world of women's fashion confuses me immensely :s-smilie:
To be honest, the answer is usually going to be yes.

Sometimes someone walks past and I actually think "wow, (s)he is fat!" which I wouldn't necessarily think about a size 14 (that's more when they're 18 or 20+). But a size 14 will generally look fairly "big" I would say.

Nah, I'd say 12.
She's between a 10 and 12.

It would depend on the girls height and how she carries it, everyone's different, I wouldnt want to be that big. But it'd be more chubby than fat, I think.
Well, that pic certainly isn't fat. She's on the thin side of the 'slightly chubby' line.
my mate at work loves skinny girls he says if i can't see some bones you're too fat.

all depends on how you carry it really.

Does this look about right for a 14?
