I've got an interview at Salford for multimedia journalism and on their website it says it will consist of a short exercise followed by a group interview and I just don't know what to expect. How do group interviews work? What short exercise could there be for journalism?

They don't explain how group interviews will be used for selection on their website: http://www.salford.ac.uk/ug-courses/...ism-multimedia

I'd ring them up and ask for more information about what you should expect (how big the group will be, who will be on the interview panel, what sort of exercise you'll be doing, how long will it last etc etc)

It's completely reasonable to ask these sorts of questions - most universities (and employers) would give you this sort of information along with the invitation.
