    Hello,
    I have attached a photo of the question and the answer becuase it is alot to type , I understand I have to use pytagoras to answer to this question but why do I have to fin the difference x and then the difference in y ,before I put into the pythag formula?

    read the question again. "The line joining the two points has length .....". To find the length of the line you need to find the difference in y and difference in x. imagine a triangle or draw it out. to go from one point to the other you need to go a certain amount sideways and a certain amount up or down. once you know the length of the x and y direction, you use pythag to find the length of the line
