Parallels between Brexit and the England Football team watch

    • Thread Starter

Brexit is a lot like the performance of the England football team.

There is always a lot of expectation that the England team will win whichever competition its in because everyone remembers the glory days of the 1960s when England won the World Cup. Brexit is also motivated by nostalgia for Britain's glory days of the post war era before Britain declined from a world power to a regional power.

But England is now regularly knocked of competitions and unlikely to win anything big in the foreseeable future. Similarly, Brexit won't turn Britain from a regional power in Europe back to a world power or anything like it.

England have reached two semi finals in 50 years so are proven international failures, Brexit hasn't happened yet so it's ignorant and naive to say it's a failure.

You get a lot of big talk and nationalist tubthumpig from the tabloid press before things start, but it ends in penalties and a hard exit.
Do you think parents should charge rent?
