I assume you're aware that both of Mr Orwell's major works were based on socialist totalitarian ideas?

Animal Farm is one big analogue for the Russian Revolution and Napolean represents Stalin.

1984 is about Britain being under extreme authoritarian control with the party being in absolute control and everyone else being second class citizens, this was also based on Stalin's Russia and a common concept in the book is IngSoc meaning literally English Socialism; the ideology of the bureaucrats in charge.

I fail to see how our party represents Stalinism, we are in fact the antithesis of that; we support a full market economy as opposed to the disastrous and suicidal command economy. We are also opposed to all forms of state mass surveillance on its citizens. Finally, a cornerstone of our ideology is social liberalism, Stalin was a social conservative.

Care to explain how it is Orwellian then?
I was taking the piss mate, I am aware of Orwell's allegory, no need for the history lesson.

Whilst I agree with your broad point (as libertarianism is the antithesis of Orwellian dystopia) I would disagree on the whole 1984 socialist thing. The Nazis called themselves socialists, didn't mean they were. The organisation in 1984 beleived in permanent war to weaken the economy, and giant social divide between the party and the oppressed (not empowered) proletariat. I'd hardly describe that as socialism.

Have you looked into how Lenin lived? Also, marxist-leninist transition state =/= socialism.

Have you looked into everybody that followed him? IT also sounds like me makes me look like a good and moral person.

To be fair if a party came into power on the grounds of libertarianism and then instilled massive market regulations and decided to nationalise industry you wouldn't call them libertarian. So how can you call Russia/China socialist when their actions directly opposed the supposed ideology to the same extent.

The Tories aren't socially conservative Petro (contrast them with US Republicans - they are socially conservative).
    Certainly not socially liberal.

Maybe authoritarian would have been better

In response to Snufkin - personally, I don't regret having them in the party. I think they were very proactive members of the party and did a good job representing us. Their childish digs at the Liberals now they have been 'enlightened' or whatever are somewhat disappointing, however. The Liberals will always exist in some form, that remains to be seen for the hopefuls wishing to form the Libertarian Party. I'd advise them to tone down their smugness just a little bit; at least until they're an official party.

Connor wasn't an MP and who else? No one has come to me, left the usergroup, or posted a leaving message like the two of you, and they will have to do that if they wish.

Or you know, they could actually continue to have a vote, be able to influence policy in a powerful party, and perhaps form part of the leadership if I become Speaker.

No. I regret Connor's lack of ability to be appreciative of the opportunities given to him (Gladstone has been as nice as one can be about defecting).
