    Certainly not socially liberal.

Maybe authoritarian would have been better

They're no more authoritarian than the average voter. Pretty bad on drugs, pretty bad on civil liberties. But nothing too extreme. They're ok on gay rights for example. Maybe they're even better than the Lib Dems on free speech.

Bad on stuff like House of Lords and Electoral reform, but perhaps the average voter doesn't care about that.

However, this is a party claiming to be Libertarian. If they start enacting socially conservative/authoritarian policies it's not really libertarian is it?

    We can have a con-liberal-libertarian-UKIP coaltion ,
Or you know, a Liberal majority

I'll agree to that if I'm PM, I get to decide all the policies and only liberals get cabinet positions

I'm slightly confused. The Libertarian Party isn't authoritarian at all - from what I've seen at least.

The Conservatives don't claim to be libertarian. They have libertarian factions within the party but they're not libertarians as a whole.

It also depends on your definition of libertarian. You know Lew Rockwell, Tom Woods, all of those guys at Mises Institute are considered to be libertarian (not by me, generally speaking) and are quite socially conservative. They're against abortion, same-sex marriage, contraception (yeah, Tom woods is traditionalist Catholic), etc, etc. They just want the federal government out of regulating these things but personally if you ask them, they'd be against.

Yet, they're still considered libertarian because they adhere to the non-aggression axiom.

The Liberal Party is dying because two members (a non-MP and a very new member/MP) defected? Jesus Christ you lot make me laugh

RIP LIberal Party. I think most people assume they will be fecked if you leave - take it as a compliment. It's nonsense though, you guys could do nothing all term and still get loads of MPs :dontknow:

    (Original post by PetrosAC)
Connor wasn't an MP and who else? No one has come to me, left the usergroup, or posted a leaving message like the two of you, and they will have to do that if they wish.

Or you know, they could actually continue to have a vote, be able to influence policy in a powerful party, and perhaps form part of the leadership if I become Speaker.

Connor claimed the Libertarians would be more Thatcherite than the Tories. One can only assume what he meant by that

I liked UKIP's first leader, Alan Sked. He was a liberal who wanted to leave the EU

Down with capitalism, even though we've never had true capitalism!
    Down with real existing capitalism.

We've never had true communism wither. So all power to the Bolsheviks!
