is this going to be a problem?

i'm due to start university in a few weeks, but i'm wondering whether i'll have problems making friends. i've been pretty ill this year and haven't been to school since january because i've been in hospital (anorexia). i also have "strange" habits and get very anxious etc eating around people. will everyone think i'm a "freak" because of this? or some superficial attention seeking little girl?

it shouldnt be a problem. you will make friends still  i couldnt say some people wont say it because theres always the minority, but i dont think you would want to be their friends...

It wouldn't bother me.

People probably wont notice, and Im sure people wouldnt think too much of it if you only wanted to eat food in your room etc.. I used to anyway cos I had a tv in my room and not the lounge!

Just be yourself, and don't try to be something/one that you're not. People won't "not accept you" for those reasons, anyway.

Don't worry; I'm sure there are plenty of people who'll be starting off with exactly the same feelings as you. [No matter whether for different or the same reasons.]

Just enjoy yourself. Good Luck.

You'll be fine. I had the same apprehensive feelings when I started school, but I made my best friends there. Good luck and enjoy yourself.

No, I don't think they'll think you're a freak. Most people should be welcoming and friendly.

anyone whos starts to judge either doesnt understand or is a social waste of space. if you have "weird" habbits, well so do other people.
some people might notice and then you decide whether or not to tell them, decent people understand =]

Totally agree with what everyone has been saying; anyone who judges you, or can't accept you for who you are, or has issues with understanding what you've been through, is not worth the energy bothering with. Believe it or not, there are some very kind people out there, and with so many different people at university, you will always find friends who will stick by you and support you. And as drac said, everyone has 'weird habits'. I have some pretty weird ones myself!
