Why do people these days say that they only smoke socially but they actually have an addiction? I get that social smoking is a thing, as is drinking socially, but it really annoys me when people who smoke several cigarettes a day for weeks say that they only do it socially and aren't addicted. If an alcoholic did that, they would be called out immediately.

The term "social smoking" has become too loosely used in my opinion. I think they are weak minded people who are hiding themselves from the truth.

They feel the pressure to smoke because their friends are doing it.

I saw a cigarette packet that was covered in images of bloody, dismembered organs and nobody was concerned. :indiff:

I have met people who genuinely socially smoke, but I have also met those you have described who are too ashamed to admit they are addicted.

And I dont see bloodied lacerated flesh on a beer bottle for example.

I have also met genuine social smokers i.e. they will only smoke when drunk and that may only be when they can be bothered.
But then I also know people who supposedly social smoke, and then it turns into 'I'm trying to quit'...
