I'm choosing options and have decided not to do Computer Science as never want to work in IT but wonder what choosing ICT at GCSE will leach me that I can't work out myself by using the software in everyday life. Also worried anything learnt will have changed in 5 years. Can I have anyone's feedback that are already doing/done computer related GCSE?

I did GCSE ICT, getting an A*. Also did a Cambridge National and got a D*. My dad teaches A Level ICT and Level 3 Computer Science.

I can tell you that the skills that you learn in ICT are unbelievably valuable if you want to go on to work in ICT, but if you don't then there may be no point really. What I can tell you is that technology is advancing at such a fast rate which may require you to have a certain level of ICT skills, also having the ICT GCSE qualification may stand out to employers where your job role may involve using computers or computer systems. This may include office jobs.
