I am aware of the fact that when you apply to Oxford they would appreciate it if you did some sort of work experience such as Volunteering or from a job. What I am unsure of is how much work experience they would like you to have done. Does anyone know how much work experience I should try to do before the time comes for me to apply?

It completely depends on what you apply for. Work experience isn't normally viewed as that important, especially if it's completely unrelated to your degree. What they prefer is a very academic statement.

Unless you're applying for Medicine, you don't need work experience. If you're able to get work experience in your subject of interest then that will probably be helpful for your own development, I don't think it's going to make or break your uni application though.
