Brexit: Britain could control immigration because opt outs Watch

Britain was able to control their level of immigration anyway. This is because it has had a number of opt outs. I.e. It decided to not sign the Schengen Agreement. So the argument 'take back control' was ******** and people have basically voted leave for nothing. (Most people that voted voted on the basis of immigration). Now if we opt for a soft Brexit we won't have those opt outs and immigration would continue. Same with the medium Brexit option. Hard Brexit will destroy our country. But it will mean we are in control of immigration. We need trade specialist and we only have two years to specialise people in trade. Impossible. Thoughts? I cannot seem to see any positives to Brexit...

I voted to remain but it's no big deal. Immigration of highly skilled individuals wherever they're from be it Europe or Africa and Asian should be welcomed. I'm surprised at the amount of bourgeois liberals who have a massive hard-on for low skilled immigration from Europe.

Britain welcomed immigrants to do the jobs the brits were too lazy or too good to do. This involved cleaning, waiting staff and general
heavy intensive labour. This is why africans were brought over to the UK, to be slaves to the white slave master.

Britain will prosper no doubt, but they will quickly learn that India and China are far surpassing Britain in both technology and manpower.

Don't think you know what schengen was… we controlled our borders and could deny non-eu residents which is why there was a Calais camp. But EU nationals could immigrate here freely which was the issue

Also free trade was never the issue, the EU is widely open to free trade and I have doubt they'll want the UK to be part of that since it benefits them the most. The issue is freedom of services since our economy is hugely based on it, in my opinion I have no issue the services sector being reduced however the government needs to consider what it will invest in during this time of economic reconstruction.

Ignoring the idiotic troll tier racism of this post, one of my biggest gripes is businesses being allowed to hire outside Britain for jobs which require literally no skills whatsoever. It would be fine if either we were to abolish all welfare systems completely (right wing solution) or if we were to force businesses to, in addition to paying minimum wage, also pay for any public services used by EU migrants (left wing solution).

They should just close the border now, they have ruined this country enough. The mass immigration has crippled our transport services, NHS, schools and jobs. Why do I have to fight Polish, Romanians and whoever else has decided to flood this country for a train seat, doctor's appointment or a job. This is why ladies and gentleman, Trump won and why Brexit happened. This mess will take decades to clear.

OP, were you one of those people that thought that UK will be destroyed after the pound value had dropped on 23rd of June? It rose again and the markets recovered.
At the moment, we cant agree and confirm any trade deals due to our membership of the EU. However, many countries including America, Australia and China have stated that they would like to trade with us. Our foreign secretary and officials are travelling to other countries to have discussions about organising trade deals.
I believe Brexit will be a success. It will take time but it will be a success.

Go for a hard Brexit and swop Polish immigration for Indians. Its a colony so its morally the right thing to do and any Commonwealth country is perfectly decent and reasonable. There was never any legitimacy to Slavic migration from the get go as we share no ethnic or colonial ties with them.

In the latest figures, net migration from the EU was 189,000 and net migration from outside the EU was 196,000, so it is a bit of a myth that the reason immigration was high was because of the EU: we controlled the rules for non-EU immigration and it was higher than it was from the EU.

This is after six years of Theresa May as Home Secretary where she repeatedly made speeches about being tough on migration.
