I'm in year 12 and over the summer I would like to do a history summer school or university taster course, but I can't find any that aren't ridiculously expensive or you don't have to meet a lot of criteria to be eligible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check out UNIQ. It doesn't have that many eligibility requirements, the main thing is to have at least 5 A*/A grades at GCSE.

Thanks, I've just looked at uniq and it looks really good, sutton trust looks good too but I don't meet most of the requirements. Do you know if it would be worth me applying to sutton trust anyway?

You could try applying anyway - the application shouldn't take too long since they'll probably ask similar questions to UNIQ anyway That being said, it does seem like you'd only have a small chance if you don't meet many of the requirements (by which I assume you mean their widening participation criteria, rather than super strict requirements?). But if you don't apply, you cant get in... Remember that there are many universities taking part in the Sutton Trust summer school, the majority of people all apply for the Cambridge one because it sounds more prestigious, so by picking a less well-known uni you may have slightly better chances perhaps? I haven't looked into how they judge applicants though or how many applicants they get so cant be sure...

Okay yeah thanks I probably will try applying anyway. Yeah I mean I'm not in most of the criteria, the only one I meet is attending a state school so it's probablu very unlikely I'll get in but no harm in applying. Thanks
