I'm a UK student looking into studying nursing in Ireland, preferably UCD. However, although I'm eligible for grants to cover my fees etc, apparently there's an upfront 'student contribution' charge of €1500!
Surely not every single person studying at Irish unis are able to afford a lump sum of that amount? Am I missing something? Is there a loan that I'd be eligible for to cover this charge?

Also, is it an annual fee? Or do you only pay the once?

If you're still interested, I found out that the general grant that covers you for the rest of the uni stuff also covers the contribution fee

Is that through susi? I think my parents earn too much for me to be eligible. I don't see why that ought to be a factor if they're not willing to pay *sigh*.

Yeah, through susi... Oh no, that sucks :/ I'm pretty sure the cut off point is £42,000. You can use the eligibility reckoner on the website to see if you're eligible
