Help needed to be confident in social situations watch

I've been on four dates with a guy. But now he says he's not sure he wants to see me again. He's not happy taking me to places...He thinks I'm really awkward in social situations. I'm not all of the time, I just tend to be fairly quiet if I don't know how to join in. Or if I don't have the confidence to say something because I fear that people won't find it interesting. He's reading that as me being rude or not wanting to be with him which isn't true at all. It would have helped if he'd directly spoken to me, but he didn't. I did speak to his friends a little but I felt really tired. I am a little lacking in confidence but I work in a bar. I'm not socially awkward. Just the situations he put me in were weird for me being with his mum and friends in a pub. Then he took me to a car with his druggie friends smoking stuff. Which wasn't really my scene. Please help me, I don't want to loose him, I need to be confident around others! I do understand that being shy isn't an attractive quality to have and I want to sort it out.

I think you just need to put more effort into talking to people and not worry what they think. Maybe look happier? Remind him you are enjoying being with him. But if he was a good guy he wouldn't get put off by that and he'd help you to overcome it. You're right it can be unattractive but you can't help being shy, sometimes. He should understand that.
