I'm looking to start access to teaching course in September. I've applied at my local college for this course and have an interview and pre access course assessment next week! 😰😰😰 I achieved a grade C at gcse for both Maths and English, I have no worries about the English assessment as I enjoy writing and reading, but my maths is a worry! Can you give me any advice for the maths assessment? I know that it's on computer and I've started revising for it on BBC bite size, but what's the assessment like? Is it hard? What topics were on the paper?
    Thank you

Are you talking about the Numeracy Skills Test or is this just an entrance test from your provider?

It's an entrance test from my provider to get onto the access course.

No-one will be able to help you as every provider is different. Most just give you some old GCSE questions so it might be a good idea to borrow a GCSE revision guide from the library and study for a bit.

Well, my provider only required an English test but it was extremely straight forward. I would say it was far below GCSE level. I'd imagine however hard your English test is will reflect the difficulty to expect from your Maths. If you passed your GCSE i wouldn't worry however, as they won't be asking you A-Level style questions at this stage.

Good luck, I'm nearly halfway through my Access course and it's full on but worth it! Especially when the Uni offers start rolling in
