For my Language investigation I'm investigating the difference in language between tabloid and broadsheet newspapers in the presentation of Donald Trump's 2016 election victory. But, I'm unsure of how to collect my data and complete the methodology section. Appreciate any and all help ASAP. Thank youu ! xx

Firstly look for your sources so I guess yours would be "broadsheet newspapers" and "tabloid newspapers" you might have a struggle finding physical data so you could look online and compare two or four articles, one or two from a tabloid and one or two from a broadsheet. I'm doing the difference in fitness magazines for the representation of men and women; gender etc. so I bought two magazines from a market that were the same publishing date but from different companies (mens and womens health) you could do the same thing if there's somewhere like that near you.
the methodology I think you just formally type up what you did and how you did it you can also include your resources like any theorists you've read about in books during your research period or any articles online etc. this is mine:

Methodology

In order to select data for my investigation I chose comparable articles from Men’s health and Women’s health, two health magazines focused at men and
women. This has allowed me to observe how the language varied with its approach to similar issues when addressing different genders. There are clearly no ethical issues with this data selection as it is published in the public domain. My main
concern was comparability which is taken care of by choosing articles on similar topics and choosing 2 publications where the only variable is gender.

I plan to analyse my data using the following subheadings:

● Producer reader relationship

● Comparison of the construction of gender

● Discourse comparison (lexis and grammatical choices)

hope this helps

Hi! First of all good luck for your coursework. I think this is a good topic - there is a lot for you to go on. My advice would be to pick some small extracts from (various) newspapers to effectively represent the difference in language usage while keeping the data manageable. You won't want to pick 6 full articles, for example. 6 extracts, however, would be manageable and would be a good amount of you to analyse.

To do your methodology, talk about how you selected your data - why did you choose these articles/newspapers in particular? You should also highlight some of the things you will investigate and maybe mention some theories that you might include to support your work.
