Ok, so I am completely torn!! I've always, always wanted to be a midwife.. But I've slightly been put off by how hard it is to get a place on a midwifery course in uni. The 2 uni's that I could apply for have over 1,200 applicants, with only around 30 gaining a place so my options would be to do my 3 year nursing first, then go on to do the 18 month conversion..
I need to get some work experience now though to help boost my application. I've already worked in a care home, so I can write that on my application for next year.
What else can I try and get experience in? What experience do uni's prefer nursing, and/or midwifery students to have? All suggestions welcome!
