independency

Can you still be independant if you live with parents? For example if you get your own job/college place, cook your own meals and do everything as though you would if you were living with friends?

I don't think you can. I didn't get on with my family when I lived with them, so I was independant in the sense that you put forward; still though, I found myself having to answer to other people, or justify everything I did, in my mind, in case anything was mentioned and I needed to defend my actions in any way.
Physically, you can be independant by doing all of the above, but the mentality that comes with being independant, I think, doesn't exist completely in that kind of situation.
It's only when you don't live with your parents, and really don't have to answer to anyone else at all, that you can be fully independant, imo.

Yeah, mine were the same but I found once I moved out that I'd still not felt completely free and independant while I was living with them, without realising.

Not completely I believe, until living away from parents and are completely self suffient in finance and every other aspect of life your not properly independant.

i live with my parents still (not for much longer mind) and i don't feel very independent. i find that my mom is constantly in my business and still tells me what to do.
