In higher English it's required to do a solo talk as this is one aspect of unit assessments you have to achieve in order to sit the exam. To anyone who has done advanced higher English recently, or knows about the requirements of the course; do you have to do a solo talk?

No, you do not. You need to write a 2,500-3000 word dissertation on two texts of your choice, 2 writing pieces and for the exam. You get 1 hour 30 minutes for the set text (poetry or prose whichever you choose, it will be random, just answering a question on it) and you get 1 hour and 30 minutes for the 20 marker essay which is actually very difficult to do if you leave everything to last minute.

Plus, your coursework (dissertation, 2 writing pieces) is worth like 40% of your final grade.
