    I do think Oxford seems globally more famous than Cambridge. For example, it seems much more "famous" in America than Cambridge is.

    Within the UK, I think they'd be considered equal though.

    I think the "University of Oxbridge" isn't too far behind.

    One of my [large number of] morally dubious ideas for making money is to buy a shed near Uxbridge and sell distance learning qualifications...

    In my country (Singapore), our first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew (and his wife) had studied Law in Cambridge, and our current Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was a Senior Wrangler from Trinity College. Somehow Cambridge is more famous/popular here.

    oh damn i always thought cambridge was more well known
    maybe i'm just biased. i've visited cambridge plenty of times, including school trips to a few of the colleges on separate occasions, but never once have i been to oxford.
