As a youngster, everyone in my school wanted to get into Oxford. I don't think anyone had even heard of Cambridge. I also recall having seen quite a few TV shows which were filmed in Oxford - Inspector Morse for example. To me Oxford is a more famous place which has to rub on to the University.

Come on people how could you possibly forget this legendary series?? In all honesty it was a Latin trip to Cambridge that "sparked my interest" in the university. But I wasn't going to put that in my Medicine personal statement...

    Attachment 613418

LATIN SPOILERS (I'm on my phone and can't find the advanced editing tools)
Quintus was my first love so the fact that he was in the later books was the highlight of my GCSEs. That and Euryalus getting killed after trying to be so macho in the Aeneid.

if you want to add spoilers you just put [spoiler] then [*dash*spoiler]

Actually... I used Wheelock's Latin in my Latin studies which is neither Oxford or Cambridge The only Latin dictionary that I have is a pocket Oxford Latin Dictionary so not a traitor at all

I think the "University of Oxbridge" isn't too far behind.

One of my [large number of] morally dubious ideas for making money is to buy a shed near Uxbridge and sell distance learning qualifications...
In 2014 Brunel University changed its name to Brunel University London. There is currently an FOI request outstanding to find out why.

Personally, I think they missed a golden opportunity to show more engagement with their local community.

I've come across a large number of Americans who dream of attending Cambridge.
It must be the fame of Anglia Ruskin.

In Germany, where I live, lots of people actually don't realize that Cambridge is a very prestigious uni. I didn't know ist myself until last year when I started to be interested in studying in the UK. So here in Germany, Oxford is definitely more famous.
