    hi, what are the different pathways into becoming a primary teacher, right from GCSE to employment. what are the advantages and disadvantages for each pathway?

    1) Take A levels (preferably in National Curriculum subjects).

    2) You now have a choice. You could take a teaching degree or you could take a degree in a particular subject and follow it up with a teacher training course.

    3) Get a job.

    Get a degree and then do a PGCE. I wouldn't recommend doing a degree which confers QTS; you'll be more employable with a normal degree if you choose to change career at some point and you'll stand out more on an application form with a degree that the majority of other applicants don't have.
