So Kuwait elected a new parliament a month ago and they had their first session not too long after... And my God is it bad.
I have a feeling we're not going to achieve anything with our system Parliament. It severely requires a reform. Which the Emir and many officials have been trying to see if they can implement it.
You see, Kuwait's Parliament doesn't have Political Parties. This is due to the fact that we don't want to create divisions among the population. However this has lead to MPs not collaborating with each other and basically do jack **** for 4 years. So the Emir and many in the government decided to see if we can implement a new system with Political Parties.
In my opinion, this may be a good thing. This will allow us Kuwaitis to vote for a party that best corresponds to our views, and so we can finally have some work done.
On the hand, this will allow extremists the chance to gain a large holding in Parliament and gain a lot of power.
What I want to know is what you guys, as Foreigners with working Parliamentary systems, think about this and what would you do in our case?

If I was the Emir of Kuwait, I would suspend Parliament, shoot all the troublemakers and push through the radical reforms required. I would create my own political party, like the Shah's Rastakhiz party in Iran, to see these reforms through.
