Hi guys. I studied a year at university and dropped out. I'm now on a course I love and there is options to study abroad for a year. So my student finance would be 1 + 3 year course + year abroad. Does any body know if this is okay? I've heard you can get funding for 5 years and some people say only 3.. so I'm totally confused. I can't seem to get hold of some one at student finance to ask so your comments so helpful!

You get length of course + 1 - previous years study. It doesn't matter how many years your current course is.

Yes it does. Each year, including placements and years abroad, count as one year.

    Hi harra

If you have only studied 1 year previously and are changing to a 4 year course, you will be eligible for funding for the full duration of the course. If you decide to do the placement year, please ensure the university lets us know that your course is now 4 years.

    Thanks
