# Is this a typo in my revision guide? watch

1. Working through an AS level maths book trying to figure out differentiation, and the formula given to differentiate powers of x is:

d / dx (x^n) = nx^n-1

Shouldn't d / dx be dy / dx?

So think of the formula as differentiating with respect to .
