I purchased a cheap smartphone which is quite good. The calling quality on Android still sucks massive balls which is ridiculous when you consider it's a phone but yeah.

    Anyway, as for the title.

What's the point of a smartphone if you can't even use it because of the data plan? Streaming anything kills my monthly data allowance in minutes.

There's a lot of public wifi. And when there isn't, it is often possible to download a film beforehand to watch when out and about and without data. Also a lot of us like to do less data intensive online things when away from home (like chat on TSR). Obviously being able to check your facebook notifications when waiting for your bus and train is preferable to not being able to. I also have loads of ebooks and drawing apps on my iPad which saves me hauling around physical books and paper/pencil.

Ebooks are actually pretty good tbf, yeah I think I just need to plan more in advance. I synced my emails yesterday though while out and bam like 30mb gone straight away lol.
