So we all know that bursaries are no more and everyone needs to take out student loans but with the stopping of salaried secondments will this actually decrease the number of those wanting to take up a place rather than increase it.

Taking out the loans isn't an issue for me personally but I was interested in a secondment with salary, which would have helped greatly. I 'thought' I'd missed out by not getting into Brighton or Surrey and was going to try for the open uni but have found out all salaried placed have been stopped and the only place to study through a trust is with the Open Uni but still no salary & still by taking out the loans.

Am I missing something obvious here?

This is something I wondered too as little has been said on it. When you look on the uni websites it just says you'd need the agreement of your manager....wether it comes out of a separate budget? I don't know.
